TRANSITIONS_Conference Call

The international conference Envisioning Transitions: Bodies, buildings, and boundaries, organized by the members of the XXXVI cycle of the Doctorate in Architecture and Design Cultures of the Department of Architecture of the University of Bologna, will be held in virtual mode on the 16th of December 2022.

Transition is identified as an increasingly common concept in the debate among technicians, especially in the fields of sustainable living and building, as well as in the humanities in general, and it turns out to be one of the most compelling contemporary challenges. We are currently living through a phase of epochal transitions, however, it can seem that the longed-for change never arrives. 

Anticipating, accompanying, holding back: our call for Bodies, buildings, and boundaries invites us to reflect on the challenge of transition, focusing on the link between bodies and the built environment and analyzing the problem of limits and boundaries, both those to be set and those that are already defined.
